The Metro Detroit AFL-CIO provides a variety of services that are of benefit to union members and the community it serves. Organized labor is always working for dignity, justice, and fairness in the workplace. But there are many groups and organizations also working on these same issues. By partnering with these groups and organizations the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO is better able to communicate and contribute to the community and society as a whole. Leaders of the unions throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties are members of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO Executive Board. The primary function of this board is to make policy for labor in the tri-county area. These leaders meet monthly to discuss, collaborate, and do strategic planning of issues important to labor and to the benefit of their members. The officers of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO are responsible for making the hard decisions as they relate to causes and issues that are important to working women and men.
